Year 11 pupil, Bethany Johnson, visited and toured the Houses of Parliament to receive her award and gold medal for winning the John Clare Poetry Competition.
Bethany faced still competition in her category for people aged 12-18 years but she wowed the judges earlier in the year with both the quality of her writing and the way she presented the poem.
This week she was given a tour of the Houses of Parliament and had the opportunity to read her poem again in Westminster Hall, one of the oldest parts of Parliament and dating back to the times of William the Conqueror.
The photograph shows Bethany receiving her gold medal, a shield and a book of John Clare's poetry from Barry Sheerman, MP for Huddersfield, who is the Chairman of the John Clare Trust.
