Sixth Form
With a strong support network in place for them, students can take responsibility for their own learning in the Sixth Form. It prepares them for adult life – university, career and personal growth and achievement.
Ambitious and enterprising students work hard while developing leadership skills. Dynamic and innovative teaching and learning, together with small class sizes, reinforce The Peterborough School’s commitment to ensuring every student achieves his or her best.

Small tutorial groups of around ten students from both year groups allow students to work closely with and get to know their tutor very well. The ethos throughout is hardworking, friendly and supportive, with everyone aiming to get the best results possible for every student.
Enrichment Programme
In tutorial sessions and in one dedicated teaching period every week, Sixth Formers have personal, social, health and economic education (PSHEE) lessons to broaden their curriculum and allow them to consider and discuss issues relating to their personal and social development. A broad range of topics is covered, providing education for life.
All Sixth Formers undertake a further enrichment programme that includes a structured volunteering programme, the completion of an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and an electives programme that might include activities such as the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award or the Gold Crest Award in Science.
Curriculum
Students at The Peterborough School ordinarily study three linear A Levels over two years. Our challenging curriculum offers a wide range of 21 subjects with a focus on traditional academic A Levels. They include: art and design, biology, business studies, chemistry, drama and theatre studies, economics, English literature, geography, history, mathematics and further mathematics, French, German, music, physical education, philosophy (RS), physics, product design, psychology and sociology.
Further Learning
Beyond the classroom there are many opportunities to develop leadership skills and participate in activities which allow students to grow in confidence and maturity. There are many and varied positions of responsibility and extra-curricular activities include debating, Young Enterprise, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, Student Parliament, the Charities Committee, choirs and orchestra and House events.
A Place to learn and develop
Independent students need their own spaces. Sixth Formers have a dedicated Sixth Form Centre which includes a new, state of the art Study Room and Common Room which provides a suitable leisure space for relaxation and is equipped with new furniture, a TV, table football and kitchen facilities.
