Teacher of Singing
Peripatetic
Start Date: ASAP
The Peterborough School is seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspiring Teacher of Singing to contribute to the School's thriving vocal and choral tradition across both our Preparatory and Senior School. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain and enhance the high standards of music tuition and musical activity on offer at The Peterborough School, teaching singing from beginner to advanced level across a wide variety of styles and genres.
Music is a key strength of the School, with a wide range of opportunities for singers. There is a Chapel Choir and a Glee Club, plus numerous bands. Each year, the Chapel Choir performs several times in venues such as Peterborough Cathedral and St John’s Church, in addition to weekly anthems in the school chapel and our recent tour to Tuscany. Singing pupils take leading roles in the Musical Theatre Production, compete for the Music Festival Young Singer of the Year award, and for their Houses in Battle of the Bands.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our individual music teaching, with over 100 individual lessons offered weekly. Pupils sit Associated Board, MTB and Trinity examinations each term, with the majority achieving merits or distinctions. The department has an excellent academic record at GCSE and A Level. Individual Music Teachers coordinate closely with the Head of Music in preparing pupils for Music GCSE and A Level performances.
The Music Department enjoys the use of a number of practice rooms and a classroom containing a full suite of computers and midi keyboards. The school chapel provides a wonderful setting for solo concerts and exams, whilst the grand piano and sound system in the Hall support larger scale performances.
