The Peterborough School’s Young Enterprise Company, Anagenesis, enjoyed a hugely successful night at the Peterborough Area Final. After a presentation by Emily Morgan (Managing Director), Megan Chittock (Deputy MD), Riya Patel (Finance Director), Molly Adam (HR Director) and Grace Williams (Marketing Director), the team walked away with the Best Company award.
In addition, Megan Chittock won Best Business Woman, Riya Patel won the award for Best Financial Control and Britney Lam won the award for Triumph in Adversity, for achieving so much as ICT Director whilst working in English as her second language. The company also won Best Company Report.
The company exhibited a trade stand at the event, manned by the team above plus Anurag Kumar. Some members of the judging panel were so impressed with Anagenesis’ product that they bought items themselves.
Their product, ‘Wireworks’, keeps headphones de-tangled. The team sufficiently impressed a local plastic re-cycling company to manufacture it for them. Last month they won the award for Best Product at a Milton Keynes trade fair. Interest in the product has been so great that the team are now looking to register the design.
Head of Business Studies, Mrs Coulson, has been particularly impressed by this year’s team: “Everyone involved has worked extremely hard in their different areas but the most pleasing aspect to this group’s success has been their innovative product. From the start the team wanted to do something completely different to other groups and were very intuitive and entrepreneurial in designing and developing their product. I am delighted that their efforts were so highly rewarded.”
The team will now go on to compete in the Cambridgeshire Final in June.
