Netballers Make Clean Sweep of District Leagues
The Peterborough School's Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 Netball teams have all won their year groups in the Peterborough District League
The Peterborough School's Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 Netball teams have all won their year groups in the Peterborough District League - the first time they are champions across the board.
In addition, the Year 7s, 9s and 11s won their age groups at the recent District Tournament, with the 8s and 10s in runner up spots.
Much of the success is down to having the new Sports Facility which has allowed all-weather training and practice fixtures to take place. More Year 7 and 8 girls have been attending practices which as strengthened the squads and many of the older players have taken inspiration from the top level National Super League matches they have been to watch.
Pre-season enthusiasm was generated by the Tournament Weekend in Shropshire and coaching by former England Captain, Olivia Murphy. Olivia is now coaching with All England Netball and will be back at the School in June for the Sports Presentation Evening.
Head of Girls' Games, Miss Smith, said "The girls have worked really hard this season and have improved considerably. There is an excellent competitive spirit but they are all willing to listen and learn new skills. I'm thrilled that all of the year groups won their leagues and it was great to dominate the Tournament - 'well done' to everyone who played this season".
