Forest School
The Peterborough School is fortunate to have an onsite woodland area where timetabled Forest School activities take place. Forest School aims to develop and enrich pupils' personal, social and emotional development whilst promoting the enjoyment of learning outside the classroom.
The School is committed to the importance of enabling all pupils to experience the world beyond the classroom as an integral and essential part of their education.
Prep pupils in all years have weekly Forest School sessions at different times of the academic year. Pupils gradually build up their Forest skills by learning about the flora and fauna and adapting to learning in the outdoor environment.
As confidence grows, the use of forest tools such as bowsaws, sheath knives and billhooks are integrated into sessions. Making and cooking on open fires and shelter building are exciting activities that we build towards.
